Privacy policy
What this site stores, what it does not, and how advertising cookies would work if ads were enabled.
This policy explains how Sword of Immortality Guide (“we”, “the site”) handles information when you visit. It applies to every page on this domain.
1. Who is responsible
The site is an independent publication operated by the Sword of Immortality Guide editorial desk. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
2. Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account and there is no comment system. Information is limited to:
- Hosting logs. Our hosting and CDN provider records standard request data — IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent and referring page — to deliver pages, prevent abuse and keep the service running.
- Local preferences. Your browser stores your theme choice and your cookie-banner answer in
localStorage, on your device only. These values are not transmitted to us. - Advertising data (only if ads are enabled). If Google AdSense is switched on, Google and its partners may set cookies and collect data as described in section 5.
- The newsletter form. If you submit the newsletter form, your email address is delivered to the editor through a third-party form service (Getform) and is used only to send launch announcements about new guide sites. It is never sold or shared, and it is deleted on request.
We do not run analytics scripts at the time of writing. If that changes, this policy will name the provider before any analytics script goes live.
3. Cookies and similar storage
The site currently sets no tracking cookies. Two local-storage keys are used:
| Key | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
soi:theme | Remembers light or dark mode | Until you clear browser data |
soi:consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined advertising cookies | Until you clear browser data |
These are strictly functional and are not used to build a profile. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings; the site will simply ask again.
4. Why we process data
- To serve pages and keep the site available (legitimate interest).
- To remember display preferences you chose (consent, stored locally).
- To measure and serve advertising only where you have agreed, or where non-personalised ads are legally permitted.
- To respond when you email us a correction or privacy request.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
This site may display advertising through Google AdSense. If ads are enabled:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org.
Where local law requires consent for advertising cookies — including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — a Google-certified consent management platform will collect your choice before personalised ads are served. Declining does not block the site; you may still see non-personalised ads or no ads at all.
Ad units on this site are labelled “Advertisement”. We do not place ads inside navigation, key reference tables or legal pages.
6. Third parties
- Cloudflare Pages — static hosting and CDN. Requests pass through Cloudflare infrastructure.
- Google AdSense (when enabled) — advertising delivery and measurement.
- Google Fonts — not used at runtime; all fonts are self-hosted on this domain.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share data with advertisers beyond what the ad platform itself processes.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. California residents may request disclosure or deletion and may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell personal information.
To exercise any right, email [email protected] with enough detail for us to locate the relevant records. Hosting logs are retained for a short operational period and may no longer exist by the time a request arrives; we will tell you what is available.
8. Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Retention
Hosting logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations, then discarded under the provider’s retention policy. Emails you send us are kept while the correction or request is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards as an editorial record.
10. International transfers
The site is served through a global CDN, so requests may be processed in a country other than yours. Where required, transfers rely on the provider’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
11. Changes to this policy
If the site adds analytics, advertising or any new data practice, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the effective date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted on the home page.
